Lindsay and I reside, work full-time+, and train in the quintessential mountain town of Mammoth Lakes, CA. She as a travel agent and student, and myself at Mammoth S.P.O.R.T. Center and Performance Lab, and Cerro Coso Community College.
Positioned at 8,000ft and tucked high into the Eastern Sierra mountain range away from crowds and traffic, Mammoth allows us more time with one another and endless mountain running and backpacking opportunities. John Muir wrote it perfectly, “Going to the mountains is going home”, and this is where we feel at peace.
Hot Creek Loop
After 17 years in the sport of distance running, including a less than stellar high school career at Rocklin High, moderate success at Chico State University, a trip to the Olympic Trials, and several years as a road junkie chasing marathon standards around the country, I finally succumbed to my inner calling to enter trail racing.
I ran my first trail race in the fall of 2014 and successfully navigated the Flagline 50k course to win the 2014 USATF 50k Trail national title, besting Max King’s course record by 4 minutes, and subsequently was picked up by Nike Trail.

The trail bug bit hard and over the next 2 months I ran my second 50k and first 50 miler. I have enjoyed hours on the trail with complete liberty from splits or overall time. As someone that simply loves to run, this transition has revitalized my passion in the sport.
Thank you to the many people that have graciously welcomed and guided me over the past few months. Lindsay and I now look forward to a 2015 season full of trail and ultra racing both stateside and throughout Europe. Hope to meet plenty of you along the way.
